I do school and library visits, workshops,
conferences, appearances, and bookstore signings.
(Scroll down for info on day-long or one-hour online videoconference visits via Zoom.)
For more information, email me at [email protected] .
Check the Schedule page for available dates. See Photos of Roxie doing School Visits.
For School Visits, programs are tailored to the particular needs, grade level, and class size of each school - suggested topics below give an idea of content and possibilities (content is STEM/STEAM-aligned). I also do presentations and workshops for adults regarding my career, books, apps, and publishing (see Adult Programs).
I do a Keynote (or Powerpoint) presentation. Need a projector, large HDMI TV, or LCD Smart Digital Whiteboard (I bring an iPad w/cable/dongles). Also, a room that can be made dark, maybe a microphone (for large groups), and possibly a table.
I do 3 presentations in a day. For younger students, probably 30-35 minutes, and then 15 minutes Q&A. For older grades, 40-45 minutes plus 15 minutes Q&A. Lunch with students, librarians, teachers, or parents is fine (actually, they are good focus groups for future book ideas!). Am happy to autograph books, which the school can preorder. Best for autographing is to be at a table with an "assistant" who notes names on post-its or to have order forms with dedications.
I bring a free signed bookmark for every student.
After the visit I send a Thank You signed limited edition print of one of my book illustrations to be given to the library, a teacher, used in a raffle, or awarded to a student as a prize.

Fees are generally $1900 a day, plus travel expenses (airfare, train, inexpensive hotel, if necessary). Two schools can share me for day, if they are close together and transportation between them provided (2 programs per school/$1000 per school). Two or more schools in the same town or county sometimes arrange visits on consecutive days, thus sharing transportation and accommodation costs. Fees for multiple days in same area are negotiable.
One-hour Zoom ONLINE SCHOOL VISITS are $375/hour. Three in one day (can be different programs): $975.
